Romans 1 vs. 13-18
Paul was an epistle that was saved
by Grace whose encounter stirs up the fire in him to produce godly fruit. The
fire keeps burning because of the burning desire he has to propagate the gospel
of Christ. There was nothing that was so paramount to him than the gospel, no genuine
reason for him to quit the gospel of Christ or make him go for a break for a
while and continue the journey when things seem to be okay. He was a selfless
worshiper considering his mandate as the steering wheel of his missionary work.
He gave a selfless service to God and men not considering the pains it will take
for him to pass the message across for the salvation of the soul. Above all his
love for Christ gets deeper which gave him a better revelation about Grace. That
was why he wrote to the Romans boldly saying “Who
shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or
persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is
written:"For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as
sheep for the slaughter." Yet in
all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am
persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor
powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any
other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is
in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom 8:35-39 NKJV)”. What a great affirmation
from Paul.
What is your utmost desire? What are those pressing needs of
yours that make you restless until they are met? Do you know that the desire
and need of a man influence the kind of life he lives? Your character is a
picture of what you have inside. The inside desires write the script of what
you display in the real world but you choose the role you wish to play base on
your choice. Paul was driven with a great desire of the gospel which makes his
life a mirror to others (Philip 3 vs 17,1 Thess. 1 vs 6). This desire of Paul attracted
great responsibilities which makes him responsible to so many life and nations.
“Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to
God for the Israelites is that they may be saved (Romans 10 vs 1NIV)
Paul earnest desire is to save Israel. His burning desire
was to see that the message of Christ is preach among all men “I am obligated both to Greeks and
non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to
preach the gospel also to you who are at Rome.
(Rom 1:14-16NIV)” . He was so much concern about the salvation of others;
he saw it as a burden laid on his shoulder, an obligation paddle with grace. It
was not all about the desire of Paul but the heart of God.
The burning desire of Paul was not the treasure of the world
or the benefit he will derive for doing his work, but seek to serve for just
one reason, to save soul for the kingdom. If a man like Paul can be driven with
such desire what about us? What do we seek? Let this be clear to all who
profess to be Christians you live for the purpose of radiating the light of God
to shine before men for the encounter of grace. if you don’t aspire to effect
someone life for a change you have not began the journey of a disciple. Paul was not afraid of death despise the
prophecy all his concern was the salvation of men the safety of the soul of
men. “And as we stayed many days, a
certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. When he had come to us, he took Paul's belt,
bound his own hands and feet, and said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit,'So
shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him
into the hands of the Gentiles.'"
Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place
pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem…. Then Paul answered, "What do
you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound,
but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." Acts 21:9-13
NKJV). Brethren Paul was
ready to die for the sake of the gospel. Do you dare to loose your life for the
same course? Believers what is your
earnest desire?
What obligation do you have to the world?
“I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks,
both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the
gospel also to you who are at Rome. (Rom
1:14-16NIV)”. You can’t say you are for God and not be longing to be part
of his disciples. In your various place of work, offices, school, homes etc you
can still tell people about Christ. The three Babylonians where in the
community when the degree was made by Nebuchadnezzar but never bow down. Just
one deed of these young men brought a transformation in a nation. You can be
the change the world need, it does not necessary needs you to speak about
Christ but your action, deed and your perspective on how you relate to certain
issues in the world can bring a change. Have this burning desire just the same way
Paul did. It is a call to service and not a call to leadership.
The Holy Spirit a pioneer to Responsibility
A man who allows the Holy Spirit to breed him will never
have difficulty in accepting responsibility and also fulfilling it because fulfilling
mandate need minute of your physical ability and require much of your inner
ability. The Holy Spirit gives us the inner strength we need which boost the
physical strength to do all things “ I
can do all things through Christ who strengthen me philipians 4 vs 13.” The bible says I can do all things through
Christ. i.e all things are done through him because he was from the very
beginning and know the source of everything that exist on the planet earth. It
is through Christ and not through your ability, when we depend on his ability
we can do all things through him who was from the very beginning . The bible
didn’t say something’s but rather it say publicly “all things”, no limitation; no boundaries just keep soaring high
to the peak to attain the height. Little David never sees the height of the
muscular philistines to be his treat, he resize Goliath to become so little
before his eyes, he knows the ability he posses to take up the responsibility
of delivering Israel and was bold to stand. The giant became as tiny as an ant
before him. Men saw little David and mighty Goliath but God saw great David and
little Goliath just because David depend less on himself and depend more on God. 1 Samuel 17
